Setup with you in mind
In 1994, following the closure of Whitmarsh’s second hand book shop, a void was spotted in then market, and an effort to address this, the book shop was opened in the centre. This service proved to be an outstanding success, both as a service to the people of the town, surrounding areas and as a promotional exercise for the centre and its services.
Due to public demand, we are now operating for 20 years, selling books on the syllabus for parents.
Books should be in good condition and on the current curriculum, and are taken on a sale or return basis. This means that we can try to sell your used books on your behalf throughout our operating times and then, whatever books we cannot sell will be returned to you, along with any money made, at the conclusion of the summer.
It proves extremely popular with parents, in our current economic climate, with education costs soaring, publishers constantly “updating and revising” books making it impossible to hand down books as was customary in years gone by.
